How to choose a Pomelo ?
You can be assured that the pomelos that we sell are of the highest quality. These are some photos as to when a pomelo is ripe enough to be taken.
Fresh juicy pulps
The skin separating the pulps have broken open caused by the expension of the juicy pulps.

This pomelo is fully ripe and best taken.
Firstly, bear in mind that a pomelo has a very long storage life. Sometimes up to 1 month depending on when the fruit is plucked down from the tree. While the outside appearance is important, more important is how the fruit taste. We recommend that the fruit be served chilled. The water content must be full, sweet and the pulp must be ripe. These are just guidelines on choosing a good fruit.
How do we know when the fruit is ready to be taken?
- A ripe pomelo should weight heavy and full from the weigh of the juice.
- An experienced farmer would be able to tell if the fruit is from a matured or young tree. The younger the tree, the thicker will be the rind. By tapping the skin lightly, you will notice that the pomelo from a younger would have a "deeper" sound because of the thick rind.
- The centre bottom of the pomelo should feel soft when pressed because the pulps have opened up causing the centre to be hollow.

Press the bottom centre of the pomelo firmly to get a soft hollow feeling.
